BREMBO'S HISTORY 1960 Brembo was founded in 1961, when widespread prosperity allowed ever wider bands of the population to use the car. It began as a
small mechanics garage located a few kilometres from Bergamo, run by the current President's father Emilio Bombassei, who gave the company a strong family element right from the start. Experience gained in mechanics and metallurgy was put to good use when the founder started working for customers like Alfa Romeo. 1964 marked a milestone in the company's history: from then on, Brembo began manufacturing the first Italian brake discs for the aftermarket. Until then, discs had been imported from Great Britain. The production of brake discs was then followed by other braking system components. The skill, specialization, and quality of the products and services of this Curno-based company began to gain recognition on an international level, gaining leadership in Europe's brake disc aftermarket. For the first time in 1972, the Brembo brand was applied to motorcycles manufactured in Europe, with a supply for Moto Guzzi. In short, Brembo became leader in the braking systems market for two-wheel vehicles. In 1965, Brembo had 28 employees, including the four founding partners. |
| 1970 Brembo's high technological standards were consecrated in 1975, when Maranello's patron, Enzo Ferrari, entrusted the Bergamo company with the task of attending to the most prestigious Formula 1 car. Brembo soon became leader in braking systems for racing. Since then, teams equipped with Brembo brakes have won hundreds of car and motorcycle world championships. Brembo amounted to 146 employees in 1975, with a turnover of 2. 8 billion lire.

| 2000 At the beginning of the year 2000, Brembo concluded some important takeovers and agreements, extending its borders even further.
In Brazil, it took over the company Alfa Real Minas for car brake disc machining and motor flywheel assembly for O.E. Brembo clinched a Joint Venture in South Africa with a ZF Group company Lemförder and the South-African company Autoindustrial. This Johannesburg-based Joint Venture controls a cast iron foundry manufacturing brake discs, a plant for hot pressing steel uprights and hubs, and a plant for component machining and assembly. Brembo then took over the UK-based company AP Racing Limited, which is specialized in manufacturing brake and clutch systems for racing, the upgrades aftermarket, and O.E. brake and clutch systems for high performance sports cars.
In the aim to develop in the field of motorcycles, Brembo acquired 70% of the company Marchesini, which specializes in magnesium wheels for racing motorcycles. Brembo then signed an agreement with the Swedish group SKF, for the development of Brake-by-Wire systems, which are destined for the high performance car market and replace the hydraulic ones currently in use. The latest Joint Venture was signed in China with Yuejin Motor Group, forming the company Nanjing Yuejin Automotive Brake System for the manufacture of braking systems for cars and light trucks. Brembo had approx. 2,800 employees in the year 2000, with a turnover of 887 billion lire.

| Today In 2001, Brembo received some prestigious prizes, including the Oscar for Annual Report and Financial Communication for quoted companies.
In addition, AT Kearney, one of the most influential American consultancy and management firms, awarded Brembo the GEO Awards (Global Excellence in Operation). These prestigious awards go to the best factories in Europe and the world for global excellence. The Curno plant was awarded the prizes. On 4th June 2001, Brembo took part in the "Ferrari Podium" dedicated to Ferrari's and Maserati's technical partners, and won the "Ferrari Innovation Award". Brembo also won the Production Award 2001 early in the year 2002. It was awarded by Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. for the demonstration of excellence in its cooperation and support in the manufacture of the "Subaru Impreza" 2002 model (from December 2001 to March 2002).
Since Brembo has introduced the Brembo CCM, the Ceramic Composite Material brake disc, it received in 2003 the Automotive News PACE award, the prestigious acknowledgement awarded annually by Automotive News, the foremost automotive trade publication and by Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, leader in management consulting and IT services. This award is given to the world's most innovative product in the car components market. During Motortec in Madrid, last June, Brembo received the Innovation Award, for the same product. Last but not least the award for Brembo Easy Check, won during Equip' Auto. This new After Market brake disc has been enriched with a simple component: a pair of very small dead holes on the braking surface that act as visual indicators of use. In November 2003, Brembo and DaimlerChrysler AG signed a contract for the establishment of a joint venture, for the manufacture of ceramic brake discs. Brembo Ceramic Brake Systems SpA, the new company, is now located in the new Science and Technology Park "Kilometro Rosso", in Stezzano (Bergamo) Italy and in January 2004, has started the production of the first ceramic brake discs.

| BRAKE DISCS: |
| Smaller the disc = Lighter front end, although there will be a lower heat limitation and decreased braking power. A small disc is more suitable to road racing. |
| Solid Discs: |
Bedding in procedure. Brake gently for 2 or 3 laps to allow brake pads to leave a layer of friction on face of rotor, then come into pits and allow rotor to naturally cool completely. This procedure is relevant when using Brembo brake pads. If using Brembo Z01 material this material must be cleaner from disc as often as
possible or performance will drop.

| Vented Discs: |
bedding in procedure is very important. Brake gently for 2 or 3 laps to allow brake pads to leave layer of friction material on face of rotor, then come into pits and allow rotor to naturally cool completely. Usually Z02 and Z03 brake pad material will drag for 4 or 5 laps but after that will become normal. If not bedded properly discs can be damaged and must not be used. This procedure is relevant when using
Brembo brake pads. If using Z01 material this material must be cleaned from disc as often as possible or will loose performance.

| BRAKE PADS: |
| Brembo Z01 and Z04 are Sintered materials. Perfect for wet or dry weather, minimal bedding
in, high initial bite, excellent modulation, ideal for trailing lever, excellent wear rate compared to PFC95 average 300kms, Z04 average 700kms. Other materials SBS, PFC are Organic. They require strict bedding procedure, can absorb moisture in wet conditions, can grab while trailing lever, also loose performance after first 3rd of pad is worn. Z04 has far longer life compared to PFC/SBS. Average wear (sbk 4 pads) 1000kms = 1.5mm

| When changing to a different brake pad material, you MUST always clean the material from the disc surface using a fine grip emery paper, being careful not to mark the disc surface.
|

| BRAKE CALIPERS: |
| All racing calipers are supplied without pads. All OE/road caliper are supplied with brake pads.
|
| Maintenance: |
| NEVER USE BRAKE CLEANER this WILL dry out seals. Correct maintenance must be carried out after each day/event. Do not dismantle any part of brake system. Take pads out of calipers, pump brake lever to move all caliper pistons out of bore by 7mm, clean all of caliper and pistons using toothbrush and solution of hot soapy water (Daz clothes washing powder), blow dry with airline and apply layer of Brembo silicone grease around each piston and gently push back into bore.

| Servicing: |
| All Brembo calipers must be sent to GPR for service every 1200/1500kms or when pistons become tight. The rider will experience a longer leaver as pistons will not move freely through seals.

| BRAKE CYLINDERS: |
| Servicing: |
| Brembo cylinders must be sent to GPR for serviced every 1500kms or yearly. If seals go, the
lever will feel perfect in pits but out on track the rider will suffer from inconsistent lever coming back to the bar.
|
| BRAKE FLUID: |
- We recommended only using Brembo Racing (has highest boiling point @ 316'C and lowest compressibility). Castrol SRF and AP 600 are also racing fluids but we cannot guarantee their batch consistency and quality.
- Never use DOT5 Silicone brake fluids as they will react with Brembo's caliper and master cylinder seals
- Brake fluid should be changed after each event.

| This information shows the recommended application list for full race conversion parts on racing motorcycles, as fitted by the manufacturer or manufacturer race team. We have only listed specific parts, all other parts will be universal such as calipers etc. You can fit the Brembo radial race calipers (x97.37.60/61, x99.c4.60/61) on all motorcycles fitted with radial calipers as standard.

| Standard fitment is wide track 296mm, Brembo does not supply this disc. Brembo only supply 290mm narrow track race disc 08.6703.43 to be used with x10.48.13/14, x10.17.40/41, x97.37.60/61, x99.c4.60/61. A mounting bracket must be used to make the caliper accept the smaller disc.

| Caliper: |
| Standard caliper is Brembo Goldline single pin 20.5165.55/65 (suits wide track disc). Brembo supply a racing version of the goldline caliper, Brembo Billet 20.4756.05/06, this runs with the standard 296mm disc. If you want to change to a higher spec caliper, you must also change to the 08.6703.43 narrow track disc. This
is essential when using original cast iron disc, as this disc can crack and break-up, as narrow pad will run through centre of holes on disc.

| Standard cylinder is road going type. Brembo supply a direct replacement to run with any single front caliper . 10.4760.82.

TRACKDAY BRAKE DISCS: To overcome standard brake system limitations it is essential to fit up-rated equipment, which is something all professional race teams insist on before their bike goes out on track. These brake discs are designed specifically for trackday use to give a performance advantage over standard and low quality discs. They are fully floating which gives greater heat dissipation as
well as utilising a 5mm thick drilled rotor. In addition, the rotor is made from a rough cast Stainless Steel that is superior to
other brands that use a billet steel. All discs are finished with gold hard-anodised centre machined from solid aluminium. We
recommend using with Sparco SR-11 or RR-01 brake pads. Suitable for Sintered and Organic friction materials.
- Designed to be used in conjunction with standard calipers (suit wide track disc 35mm pad path)
- These discs are also used as part of our complete brake conversion kits with the Brembo Billet Race caliper

| TRACKDAY CONVERSION BRAKE EQUIPMENT After the Trackday brake disc comes the complete brake conversion kit, an essential upgrade for those who require race quality brake equipment for track use only. These brake kits are designed to run with your standard brake cylinder, include the Trackday discs, Brembo Billet race calipers, Sparco performance brake pads, Brembo Racing brake fluid, braided hose kit and all mounting equipment, ready to fit, replacing your original braking system. The Brembo Racing radial brake cylinder is not included, as it can restrict full turning circle on some motorcycles. The radial cylinder can be purchased separately if required, alterations will need to be made to the braided lines.

SUPERMOTO BRAKE CONVERSION EQUIPMENT Supermoto is undoubtedly the fastest growing form of motorcycle sport. Most manufacturers have now added specially
designed Supermoto models to their range. KTM and Husqvarna both fit Brembo as standard as they recognise the
necessity to fit up-rated brake systems to cope with the increased braking forces of these performance motorcycles.
Brembo is now used by the works KTM and Husqvarna teams and have given them numerous World, European, and
national championships. The Brembo range of Supermoto conversion parts enables you to convert your motocross
equipped bike to run the Brembo Racing 4 piston race caliper with 320mm fully floating brake disc. To complete the
conversion the Brembo Racing radial brake cylinder will give you the winning advantage.
- Where the Brembo disc is flat, it will be compatible with all other flat discs. So you can run any flat disc with Brembo caliper & caliper bracket.
- If you are fitting the Billet caliper a caliper bracket must be used wherever shown
- Parts can be purchased together or individually if you do not require some items
- The 00003S016SR brake pad listed is a trackday material. If you need a higher performance pad you can also purchase 00003R001RR
- Brake pads ending SR = Trackday material (initial bite 0.46/max friction 0.58). RR = Competition material (initial bite 0.50/max friction 0.69)

Brembo do not supply new rotors or disc bells. If these need replacing then you must purchase the complete disc. Clips are a single use item. The clip must NEVER be re- used. Always fit a new clip, or the metal will weaken. If you need to replace a bobbin, then you must build each one using the following; |

| BREMBO COMPETITION BRAKE PADS Brake pads play a major part in the overall performance of a brake system. If the pads you are using do not performance this will restrict the performance of
the whole system. Due to the teams and riders that Brembo supply and due to the quality of their braking systems, Brembo have to manufacture brake pads
that will perform 100% with the best braking power, pad wear, and consistency. Brembo are not a brake pad manufacturer who just say their pads are used by
the worlds best, Brembo are a brake systems manufacturer who can prove that these pads ARE used by the worlds best and without using the complete
Brembo system, you will loose overall performance. |
WHAT IS THE BEST MATERIAL
The best material to use is Brembo Z04. Why?
|
- Brembo Z04 has the highest initial bite and highest average friction level – FACT
- Brembo Z04 has the lowest wear rate with an average of ONLY 1.5mm wear over 1000kms when using with 4 pads caliper
- If you have used other pad brands you will know their material wears completely in approx. 300- 400KMS making them very expensive
- Brembo Z04 is a sintered material so is perfect for wet or dry (PFC/SBS are organic, so can absorb moisture)
- Virtually no bedding in (PFC/SBS must follow a very strict bedding procedure, also never bed in wet)
- The best pad life (PFC/SBS will loose performance after first 3rd of overall thickness is worn, Z04 performs throughout pad life)
- Brembo batch consistency is absolutely 100% (in the past we have encountered problems with other pad producers consistency)

COMPETITION FRONT BRAKE PAD MATERIALS
Whenever you change to a different pad material, you MUST remove the different material from the brake disc. Carefully use fine grit dry emery paper
|
- Brembo Z04 To bed these pads. Completing 3 laps starting slow with low lever pressure, ending with fast with high. Let pads cool, then go
- Brembo Z01 This material works best on a new or clean disc. you must clean the friction material off the disc as often as possible
- Sparco RR-01 This material is similar in performance to the Brembo Z01 material
- Sparco SR- 11 This material is ideal for trackday/light competition use as well as fast road and Supermoto
- Brembo J01 This material is designed specifically for use with cast iron discs

RADIAL BRAKE MASTER CYLINDERS Brembo’s radial brake cylinders are used at world and national level by teams including Ducati, Suzuki, Yamaha, and
Kawasaki. They are the MUST HAVE item on any motorcycle and will instantly improve braking power and consistency
over OE cylinders. Suitable for use with single and twin front calipers from 125cc to Supermoto and Sportsbike to
Superbike. All cylinders require a remote reservoir.

- 16 = The least popular although can be good for Supermoto and 125cc to increase feel. Easiest to pull with most feel
- 18 = Used by almost every works rider using Brembo brake calipers. Best combination of feel and travel

| REPLACEMENT LEVERS Brembo racing brake levers are universal between brake and clutch radial cylinders. If you have purchased a cylinder with,
for example, an 18 ratio lever fitted, you can always change the ratio simply by swapping the lever. Lever part numbers beginning 110 are the lever kit (shown left). Lever part numbers beginning 10 are the lever only.

| REMOTE ADJUSTERS

REMOTE ADJUSTERS The remote adjuster has become an integral part of all racing brake systems. One end is attached to the brake lever span adjuster, the other end is mounted
on the opposite side of the handle bar, and this enables the rider to adjust the lever span while keeping control of the throttle.
Probably used by every team and rider that runs a racing brake system. Primarily designed for use with Brembo racing cylinders but can also be adapted for
use with any brake cylinder that features lever span adjustment.
